Sometimes along the way we find unusual treasures

This find is an old Doctor’s Buggy or Phaeton. The buggy was a small lightweight horse drawn buggy that was recognized by its open style and four wheels. Doctor’s still made house calls and needed a fast vehicle to get to their patients quickly. The wheels were most often painted yellow or red to differentiate them from regular carriages. How beautiful it is when the dust is removed! These are the kind of treasures that Rangewood Reclaimers can provide for you either in the woods, we have or the treasures we find to help reclaim our cultural past and support a beautiful Future!

THE EXTRA FUN DIMENSION OF OUR BUSINESS

The Other Dimension of Rangewood Reclaimers are the Artisans that visit us at the warehouse to find the perfect pieces of wood that speak to them and allow them to create beautiful pieces of art. The two art pieces above were created by a wonderful Artist. Her name is Lisa Walla and the work is called '“Mirrored Hearts”. We are looking forward to see what Lisa can create after her next trip to Rangewood Reclaimer’s treasure trove of history and woods!

UNUSUAL OPPORTUNITIES

Sometimes at Rangewood Reclaimers we come across so very different opportunities That we like to present for our clients. This is about 3 that we have now. What makes these different is we have not reclaimed the wood yet. Whether there isn’t anymore room in the warehouse or we want to wait until the perfect Architect, Contractor, Set Designer or Artisan can see these treasures and lay claim to them will they be carefully dismantled. These are the 3 below….

IMG_0508.jpg

The first that I am going to tell you about is a large log cabin high in the mountains. This cabin was hand built by seven Hippies in the 1960’s! Amazing the workmanship they did with the old growth wood, how they got it there and the great shape it is still in! The owner wishes to have it removed to make more space on the property but is not in a hurry allowing us time to find the perfect project for it. It also will not be an easy task for Rangewood Reclaimers to dismantle this structure due to the difficulty to access the location. But beautiful woods!

IMG_1503.jpg

The next “Find” are extremely large and very heavy timbers. We did not reclaim these, because at the time during the summer it was rattlesnake heaven! These can be used as beams for ceilings or mantles. Houses were moved for a few reasons, owner whim, move it to a better spot with shade or water. These large timbers/logs were used to raise the building to put it on supports or to move it by mule in the past and truck in the present.

Karri Wood

IMG_0717.jpg

The last of the three was listed before but here are more photos and info on the wood. This is the Karri wood from Australia. This wood was purchased by a family many generations ago for a mine in Southern New Mexico. The wood was stored and never used for the mines. So it still has the wax coating that covered it when it was shipped to the United States from Australia. The colors are magnificent! They range from Light Pinks to Deep Reds it is extremely versatile and will last a lifetime. We have over 100 pieces of this rare wood.

BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR….

We are very excited about the “Big” release of the article about us in the Fine Lifestyles magazine for Santa Fe and Albuquerque! Below is the sneak peek of what is coming!!

EXTRA EXTRA READ ALL ABOUT IT!

Was a term to denote breaking news during the 1890’s-1940’s. Shouted by overzealous newsboys and paperboys.
Well  the exciting news is that Rangewood Reclaimers has come upon a great opportunity for our clients. We have come across a rare find of Karri wood.

Karri is a hardwood  native to Australia. It has a durability and distinctive red to pink hues. It has a broad range of applications. Most commonly used in construction, it is also valued by designers in the manufacture of indoor and outdoor furniture.

We have 100-110 pieces available for purchase.  Size is 3.5x7x20 feet.

Call for a quote.

Warehouse is packed wall to wall with every type of old woods and salvaged metals. This Old Growth wood can not be found anymore!

“Old Growth wood refers to wood from trees that belonged to forests that grew up over hundreds of years. A majority of today’s lumber is harvested from trees that have been cultivated to grow rapidly so the wood is not as dense. As a result, it is weaker and more susceptible to decay and instability.”

We are taking appointments Monday, wednesday and fridays. Give us a call to set up your appointment!

Well the Rangewood Posse was back at it Again!! And it was an Adventure!!

The Posse headed back to Roy, NM to take down some Yearling calf pens. The yearling program was set up in the late 30's to early 40's to help support yearling calves that allowed the rancher to work with the water restrictions that were in place on these large ranches. The program had to be shut down and moved leaving a treasure of weathered wood. It gave us the opportunity to pick up some long, wide and heavy woods and the new owners of the ranch were very happy that the wood was going to be repurposed. Varying age from several nail stamps on some rail road ties ranged from 1925-1941. The Posse again faced some obstacles and hardships once again...in the form of numerous rattlesnakes and a record wind and rainstorm. But wait till you see what we've got in the warehouse now!! Call us so we can talk about how to use this beautiful old wood on your project!

What was supposed to be some R&R turned into an Adventure of upcoming treasures!

We headed to Cloudcroft, NM to get away from the heat and have a little R&R. What an amazing town and contacts, one after another were made for new projects for Rangewood Reclaimers! You'll just have to wait and see what will be coming in!

  Rangewood has Doors and Windows!

Making more space in our warehouse for our next three projects! Call for quotes. These doors are from a 100 year old Church.

This Door took two of our largest crew members to move it. It was from a 1920’s saloon and was its back door. It is extremely heavy and re-enforced to protect the saloon’s libations. Note the bullet holes from the inside and the outside of this door! We’re sure there is quite a story behind it!

This selection of doors came from a 100 year old Adobe on a 300 year old Spanish Land Grant

Just like what we see in the natural world. The view comes in all shapes and sizes. Windows, shutters, screens and transom windows. Add this view of history to your vision of the world.
